My husband came home from work with stomach pain?

My husband came home from work with stomach pain. He said that he ate meat and broccoli for lunch then had a bowel movement and then right afterwards a throbbing, bloated pain in his abdomen started. Its not in one specific area, but all over his lower abdomen. They fed him Rolaids at work, and the pain lessened (still there tho). He feels bloated and I got him some gas-x but it doesnt seem to be working. Is there anything else I can tell him to do? Should I take him to the emergency room? He says the pain is 8 on a scale of 1-10.
