"A Daily Joy to be Alive" written by Jimmy Santiago Baca. What does this poem mean?

According to what I read on several pages on Google - it is a salute to the human who begins the struggle of life each day and he describes himself as always between two peaks - failure and success. He is always on the brink of beginning again and as such is uncertain and seeking to make one more gain or acknowledge one more loss but each day begins a new ault.
